Remington’s Winnie the Pooh photo shoot

IMG_8656 copy

I just can’t help myself when it comes to silly styled photo shoots including a disney element and my cute babies. And with the inclusion of Winnie the Pooh into the mix, I just couldn’t say no. This little shoot is the product of a lazy afternoon. It required quick costume changes and keeping Evelyn occupied so she didn’t see that her brother was playing with her Pooh toys.

I bought Remi’s Tigger outfit for our trip to Disneyland and then opened a suitcase to pack for the trip and found this Pooh costume. Seriously. I just found it. Like what is that? Full disclosure, I knew it existed..my sister bought it for Evelyn and then lost it and I just happened upon it in a suitcase in my attic. So with two outfits from Winnie the Pooh for the same little boy, I had to work in a faux twin photo. Am I cray or what?

Anyways, scroll down for some amateur shots of my cute little nugget and all his Winnie the Pooh pals.

Mickey and Minnie photo shoot

remi_evie017_copy

Remi’s 8 month photo shoot just so happened to be right before our trip to Disneyland. I took advantage of the fact that I had gotten costumes for the kids for the trip and decided to get a few Mickey and Minnie shots while I had a talented photographer there (Malae Talley Photo).

I’m kind of a Disney fanatic so these pictures make me obsessively happy. Like I kind of can’t even handle it. These are perfect.

Remington likes Evelyn significantly more than she likes him. Which is unfortunate and makes it hard to take photos of the two of them. They turned out pretty cute nonetheless.

Take a look for yourself:

Remi 8 month baby photo shoot

remi_evie091

I had every intention of doing a 6 month photo shoot for Remi like I did for Evelyn. Well I kept having to reschedule and bottom line is, it ended up being more of an 8 month shoot. (Full disclosure, Remi is like 11 months now). Which is still adorable. It happened right after I bought the kids Easter outfits and right before our Disney trip so we got some really adorable Mickey and Minnie shots (in a post coming your way soon) and Easter shots.

At 8 months Rem is a moving machine. He pulls himself up on everything and cruises from couch to table to chair. He loves playing with his sister who would rather play with ANYONE else. He loves jumping in his bouncer chair. And he finally has two cute little teeth!

These incredible photos were taken by Malae Tally Photo, my go-to photographer and BFF.

Vintage Tea Party Photo Shoot

tea_party_194_of_282

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to be part of a gorgeous stylized Mother’s Day photo shoot collaboration. My good friend Megan of Wild Rose House set up the whole shoot, found all the contributors and styled the whole thing! She does amazing work as a florist and styling photo shoots. I am still so impressed with how it turned out!

Megan asked me to do nails for the shoot and I was more than happy to oblige. Then, as it turns out, she asked Evelyn and I to model in the shoot too! It was such a blast and I got some beautiful photos of my sweet daughter and I that I will treasure forever.

Janessa, of JMarie Photography and Design, was so good with the girls. I was so impressed by Janessa’s skill in getting the girl’s attention and engaging them so they had fun and smiled pretty for the camera. I mean, have you ever seen so many little girls cooperating all at once?!

All the models in the shoot are good friends of mine. We met several years ago doing a play group and have stayed close ever since. It was so fun to get to do the shoot with them. We got some momma pampering by Bree and McKenzie, a much-needed gift for moms who are always on the go to keep up with kids. We even got to shop for our dresses together at the Dress Collective. It was a little throw back to getting ready for prom with all my girls! Nothing brings you closer together faster than sharing a teeny dressing room with three other girls.

The tea party set up was something straight out of a romantic fairytale. Megan definitely has the artistic eye. She was able to find contributors for each of the tiny details. Everything from the china to place card calligraphy was provided by a skilled vendor. Each place setting was carefully completed with a stack of china plates, a linen napkin and a teacup on top framed by gorgeous gold utensils.

As we sat down, we couldn’t help but feel like we had been transported into a storybook land where dining rooms are nestled in the shade of the forest and tables are always decorated with decadent flower cakes. Every where you glance on the table reveals a new bright color of flowers tucked into teacups.

We all laughed as we played pretend with these cute little girls who were elated to be at a real tea party. We clinked tea cups and spoke in silly British accents. We asked, “How’s the crop?” and “Have you been to any good cricket tournaments?” It was a jolly good time and a great opportunity to play with our sweet daughters.

We couldn’t keep the girls away from the cupcakes for too long and they were ecstatic to inhale every last crumb. And immediately afterward proceeded to run off and chase each other in a fit of giggles, leaving us moms to make our own hilarity.

It was a beautiful tea party, thanks to everyone involved and such a blast to be part of. I can highly recommend any of the vendors. See below for a full list and enjoy the photos!

Urban Maternity Photo Shoot

As it turns out I am much more motivated to work on painting and organizing and decorating my house than I am to write on my blog. So, sorry for being so neglectful. But the good news is that I’m actually feeling like the house is ready enough for the baby to come. Not completely done, but ready enough.

::

It takes a talented photographer to make a million weeks pregnant woman feel and look pretty during a photo shoot but somehow my friend Malae pulled it off.

My maternity shoot with Evelyn was just me, and it was very wild child in the forested mountains. It was so beautiful and I love how the photos turned out but for this one I wanted it to A. be with Chris and Evelyn and B. I wanted it to be an urban maternity photo shoot. For some reason I felt like the urban scene was more rough and tumble like boys are as opposed to the flower child vibe I was going for when I was pregnant with Evelyn.

I’m really happy with the way everything turned out! Evelyn cooperated for just enough photos that I got some cute shots that I love and let’s be honest, by the time Evelyn was done, Chris was done too. Which means that the rest of the time could be focused on me and my little (I’m lying, it’s huge) baby bump.

So without further ado, my urban maternity shoot. Make sure you scroll down far enough to check out my Pinterest fail shot.

^^I love her up on her tip toes to reach my belly!

So Pinterest fail time… This is what we were going for:

And this is what happened:

Evelyn kept leaning backwards and wouldn’t sit up straight, let alone lean forward to kiss me and as I pulled on her arms it smashed Chris’ face further into my belly. It was absolutely hilarious. Even though the pics weren’t what I had envisioned, I like how they turned out. It’s definitely us in a nutshell.

Family Fairytale photo shoot

fairytale-25

My oh my family photo shoots have changed A LOT over the past few years. It’s no longer the thing for everyone to wear white shirts and jeans and sit in a studio. Or even in a very posed position for that matter. People want pictures of their family in gorgeous locations doing things that they would do so it seems like them and not like robots.

Now granted, these aren’t strictly family photos. For one, it’s just me and Evelyn and for two this is the product of my incredible sister-in-law’s imagination. She had a vision and lucky for me, I got to help her make it happen.

Kensie M Photography is based in Northern Virginia. Go check out her website and her portfolio. She’s incredible!

The end result is breathtaking, if I do say so myself (I just have to pretend it’s not me in them so I don’t sound cocky). It’s such a romantic setting and the photos have this fairytale quality to them. Now I just need to figure out where to hang them in our house.

One year old: Cake Smash photo shoot

cakesmash-6

Evelyn turned one just about a month ago and I was so excited to do a cake smash! Of course I had my good friend and go-to photographer, Malae Talley do the photo shoot and I am so happy with the way it turned out.

My advice for an awesome cake smash photo shoot:

001 As with any photo shoot keep to a color scheme with the cake and baby’s outfit. Feel free to throw in some balloons, a banner or a cute cake topper.

002 Give your baby a nutritious meal earlier that day (it’ll make you feel better about all that sugar).

003 You wear something you don’t mind getting covered in frosting and make sure to bring something for baby to change into.

004 Get before smash and after smash photos of the cake.

005 Have the wet wipes/ wash cloths ready!

And now for the fabulous photos!

{Baby Girl Update} 6 month old photo shoot

Evelyn turned seven months old on Pi Day (3/14). And boy oh boy is this kid giving me a run for my money. Solid foods have got her…how shall I put this and remain a lady…hmm backed up. Which in turn has made her not sleep and cry. A lot.

The doctor suggested prune juice but since she’s not an 85 year old woman, she didn’t like it very much. Go figure.

She’s still not crawling but she sits like a champ. I think she’s going to be a little drummer because she is always patting her hands on the floor or her leg or my arm. She’s so rhythmic.

I got Evelyn’s pictures back from her 6 month photoshoot and I am thrilled with the results. I did a little pinteresting to come up with some 6 month old photoshoot ideas and passed along the shots I loved to my fabulous photographer and good friend, Malae of Malae Talley Photo and Design. As you may remember, she also did my boho maternity photo shoot.

Now without further adieu, My beautiful baby Evelyn:

Evelyn’s newborn photo shoot

newborns 000

Teeny squishy babies are just the cutest! All I want to do is hug and snuggle and cuddle my perfect little baby girl. And after seeing the pictures, I bet that’s what you’ll want to do too.

My sister-in-law, Kensie, took these beautiful newborn pictures. Normally I wouldn’t think to spend the money on a photo shoot but I’m so glad I have these photos. Evelyn will never be this tiny again and this precious newborn photo shoot is the perfect way to remember her at just a few days old.

I also love that we got to do a lifestyle shoot too. It shows where we are in our life right now and we get to see our tiny family on our little family bed. It will be fun, as we have more kids, to see that bed get more and more full.

Kensie is so talented and has incredible skill when it comes to posing, photographing and tenderly taking care of newborns. As I brand new mother, I wasn’t at all concerned for my daughter’s safety during the shoot which is super important when it comes to a newborn baby. If you’re looking for a newborn photographer, make sure the person you choose is well qualified and has dealt with newborns before.

What do you guys think? What’s your favorite?
